The Palos Verdes Concours D'Elegance was formed in 1991 as a charity event benefiting the educational and community outreach programs of the Palos Verdes Art Center, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Foundation.
Now celebrating its 75th year of inspiring individuals to "celebrate, appreciate and create art," the Palos Verdes Art Center, a non-profit visual arts organization, enhances the quality of life in southwestern Los Angeles County with free or low-cost education, exhibition, and community outreach programs such as Art at your Fingertips and Partners in Art, in-school art education to more than 8,000 area children; Special Mornings for special education students; Art for Educators, offering teachers basic art education; Designs for a Healing Environment, providing emotionally therapeutic art projects for patients' families at Little Company of Mary Hospital; and scholarship opportunities to assist visual arts students and professionals.
PALOS VERDES PENINSULA ROTARY FOUNDATION The Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Foundation provides financial support to charitable groups and individuals located in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Community and the greater South Bay area of Los Angeles County. The Foundation builds a strong community through boldness, innovation and new models of action based on results, not needs; on investment opportunities, not institutional financial urgency. Most recently the Foundation focused support on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wilmington and San Pedro, assisting in efforts to provide guidance and literacy to disadvantaged youth. The Foundation was instrumental in renovating the kitchen at the Wilmington facility, and in placing a book-lending library in the San Pedro facility to aid both child and adult literacy. |
